STEELDECK ® INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING:
Our entire safety and setup manual should be read before setting up or using STEELDECK® equipment.
Failure to follow these instructions may result in severe personal injury or property damage.
These instructions are provided to illustrate the minimum technical ability needed to assemble a STEELDECK® platform.
Tough plywood is screwed into the steel frame. Steel is much stronger than aluminum, which is often used on portable stages, and steel retains its strength after welding. The plywood has felt lining underneath to reduce noise.
Steel schedule 40 pipe legs are used in our patented square corner posts and bolted in.* Scaffolding tube is economical, easily available and allows standard scaffolding fittings to be used when bracing a structure.
Raked legs are also made from scaffolding tube for making ramps.
Plastic "feet" slot into the bottom of the legs protecting whatever surface your deck is resting on.
Screwjacks can be used to allow height alterations without inserting new legs.
Casters can be inserted into legs for rolling platforms, or used to make a dolly to move other decks or equipment.
Couplers allow decks to be joined together and supported by a single leg. This reduces set up time without compromising safety.
Where two or more decks meet they are supported by one leg.
Four legs supported by one leg using a coupler.
Provide two or more people to handle each STEELDECK® unit.
Clear set-up area for stage.
Stand deck on its long edge.
Check that all four legs are fitted with a plastic foot.
Insert open end of leg into corner post.
Insure leg is completely into corner post.
Tighten corner post bolt firmly using a wrench.
Check that all four legs are held securely.
Insure there is enough space to maneuver deck.
Stand deck up and place in position.
Fit connecting bolts finger-tight as stage is erected.
Tighten connecting bolts.
Note: Bolts should be tightened firmly, not forced.
To break down a STEELDECK® platform, follow set-up instructions in reverse order.
